City of Vaughan Yearbook

Connecting People, Achievements,
and a Shared Blueprint for Success

Creative direction · Print & digital

The City needed a yearbook that went beyond listing departmental results. The real goal was to connect staff across departments, surface individual contributions, and tell one clear story about how people — working both independently and together — drive Vaughan’s growth and success. The theme of “Blueprint” needed to feel intentional, not decorative.

I treated the yearbook as a people-and-progress document rather than a traditional annual report. The direction prioritized real staff stories and team photography, paired with clear achievement metrics, so readers could see both the human side of the work and the scale of what was delivered. The Blueprint theme was used to visually reinforce how individual contributions connect into a larger organizational picture.

A light blueprint/grid language runs through the book as a unifying device, while each department receives its own accent color to maintain clarity and identity. Key decisions included leading spreads with team photography, giving individual staff polaroid-style stories real presence on the page, and pairing those human moments with strong metric bars so achievements remain visible and concrete. The result keeps the focus on people while still delivering a clear record of progress.

The yearbook creates a more connected picture of the organization. It shows staff not just as roles within departments, but as contributors to a shared city-wide effort — making both individual work and collective success easier to see and celebrate.
